Elehna de Sousa
Elehna de Sousa was born in Hong Kong and came to Canada in 1967 to further her education at the University of Toronto.
At the age of six, her first poem was published in the South China Morning Post ( H.K.). She has since won many awards and
been published in journals and anthologies in Canada, the U.S. (including Hawaii), Europe and India.
Elehna currently lives on Salt Spring Island, where she delights in being close to nature and having time for her creative
interests in art, photography and poetry.
Her visual art is exhibited several times a year, both locally and on Vancouver Island; her haiku and tanka appear regularly
in various journals dedicated to these genres.
Her first chapbook A Shower of Blossoms, haiku and photos inspired by life on Salt Spring Island, was released in May 2005
and is no longer available.
